Welcome to the Beauty Community, Shane Dawson

Two of the most famous YouTubers to date, Shane Dawson and Jeffree Star, just released a makeup collection like no other. It was first introduced in Shane’s recent series, The Beautiful World of Jeffree Star, which brings subscribers and fans along for the ride of the collection’s creative process and the ups and downs that they faced. This process was completely new to Shane, and viewers are now able to see exactly what goes on behind the scenes—which is pretty cool!

While filming the series, Shane stated multiple times that he doesn’t feel like he belongs in the beauty community. If you look at Shane’s past videos and series on YouTube, his channel has absolutely nothing to do with makeup or anything beauty related. It’s all conspiracy videos, food videos, and just a bunch of random content in general. He first got inspired when he filmed his initial series with Jeffree, titled The Secret World of Jeffree Star, which allowed him to see what the beauty guru goes through with his makeup collections and how he started out.

When the whole process began, Shane was unsure of how everything was going to work out. He had no idea how fans would react or what other YouTubers would think. In an article written by The Verge, Maggie Mae Fish states, “As much as people want to say that Shane Dawson is really authentic and they’re making this video showing the behind-the-scenes of the fashion industry, it’s just a six-part commercial for the palette.”

Maggie wasn’t the only one that had something to say about this collaboration. Fans have been commenting all over his YouTube videos on this series, and some aren’t so nice. A commenter that goes by Rick stated, “Thought we were going to get to see everything but it turns out to be just one big ad. I’m guessing you’re trying to protect people but it’s dishonest.”

Although there are multiple negative comments about the collaboration, there are plenty of positive reviews. People have also been making videos using the palette to create different looks with all of the colors.

The launch of the Conspiracy Collection took place on November 1st, and it sold out almost immediately. It went so viral that Jeffree Star’s website completely crashed for hours, and fans had a difficult time being able to purchase the items they wanted. When the website was finally up and running, they flew off the shelf. There is no official date on when the collection will be coming back fully, but Jeffree did say that it would be back in early 2020 sometime.

In the meantime, if you managed to get the palette or any part of the collection, play around with it and create all kinds of unique looks! If you weren’t able to purchase it, just wait and you will soon be able to grab it—the collection is going to be permanent once it comes back!
