#ChannelingMyInnerMillenial: Photos of the Subway That Would've Gone Viral on Tumblr in 2016

To a New Yorker, it’s part of day-to-day life; to a tourist, it’s iconic. The subway is a staple of New York's long-lasting iconography. 

With the nostalgia of 2016, and with my favorite generation, millennials, in mind, I wanted to photograph the subway with a twist.

As I age, I continue to understand why millennials are the way that they are, and I’ve gained somewhat of a respect for them. Their cringe folk music, skinny jeans, hashtags, and Harry Potter references have started to hold a special place in my heart.

With over-the-top filters, blurry images, and photos of things that are stale and oftentimes stupid, I tried to channel my inner millennial.

I feel that these 14 photos did the most justice to 2016, millennials, and their shared core values: being relatable and quirky.
