Combatting Cabin Fever: Your New Winter Playlist

Between last week’s snowstorm and Punxsutawney Phil’s prediction for a long winter, I think we can all agree that seasonal depression is hitting extra hard this year. Mother Nature, if you are reading this, it’s never too late to show us some mercy—a few eighty-degree days would be nice.

While we wait for her to respond, we might as well embrace this end-of-winter cabin fever—because nothing says, “I’m over this” like a playlist to close out the season.

Starting off slow, Lena Minder’s “Stay Around” is the perfect lullaby for a much-needed, post-shoveling nap. And when you start to nod off and dream, “Fade Into You” and “Mariella” will carry you through those visions of brighter days—sandy feet, tan skin, and saltwater-soaked hair.

And what’s a proper playlist without some Lana Del Rey? “Video Games” and “Cinnamon Girl” have just the right amount of sadness to remind us that it is okay to sulk sometimes—even if it is just about the weather. But when we start to feel better and need a change of pace, “Bell Bottom Blues” by Derek & The Dominos has the grit and soul necessary to make us feel again—despite the ten-below wind chill.

So, when the days seem never-ending and summer appears to be out of reach, turn on Spotify, press play, and give our mix a listen—cause if you can’t bear the outside, you might as well listen to some great music.
