Five Products That Help With Sleeping

One thing that we as college students need is sleep. Whether our nights are filled with partying or studying, we have the best sleep of our lives once we face plant into our beds. Well, some do. Others stare into the darkness of their eyelids waiting to fall into that deep slumber that may come an hour or two later. Are you getting enough sleep? Chances are you’re not getting a full seven to eight hours rest. The impact is harsh in the mornings as we sit in class trying to stay awake; however, this is an issue that can be avoided. Here are five sleep accessories that will help you sleep better.

1. White Noise Machine

Sleeping in complete silence can be difficult, especially when your head has millions of thoughts every second. Some people find joy with sleeping with a fan on or hearing their tv in the background. This is called white noise. White noise creates a masking effect, blocking out those sudden changes that frustrate light sleepers or people trying to fall asleep. White noise can be soothing or something to focus on at night while you’re in bed. A white noise machine will provide these types of sounds. They can be put next to you or at a distance, and the machines come with many choices from natural sounds to fan noises. They also make perfect gifts for people.

2. Pillow Spray

Pillow sprays are great for those who bury their heads in their pillow. Some scents offered are traditional, but sometimes companies create their own scents that they believe will help people sleep better. Lavender is a popular smell within this category as it's supposed to help you fall asleep early. Most sprays are priced cheaply so try out a few different ones to find the scent that helps you the best.

3. Weighted Blanket

The first time I heard about weighted blankets, it was about how they helped people with anxiety. The pressure the blankets put onto the body combined with lying down helps calm you. I would describe the feeling of a weighted blanket as the same feeling as sleeping with two comforters. You will surely get a better sleep.

4. Sleep Tea

Teas exist to make fantastic drinks for any time of the day, but they also help with other things including sleep. Drinks that contain certain minerals and herbs affect you and how your body rests. Chamomile tea has been proven to improve sleep quality in adults. Sleep teas only really work if you are already doing the basic things that help you sleep well; these teas further add to it.

5. Contoured Eye Mask

Eye masks can easily be a forgetable accessory since they’ve been around so long. The traditional look was changed once companies created contoured masks. They sit well on your face and don’t smudge the eyes when sitting up or lying down like regular eye masks. The light will be completely blocked out and as long as you’re on a cushion, these will do the rest of the work for you.

As students, we know that health comes first. A sleep routine is the foundation of getting better rest, and adding these accessories to our routines will prevent the restless nights from happening again.
