Lovesong

Music has always been a huge inspiration behind my photography. I usually get lost in the lyrics and something will click in my head during certain lyrics where I’ll think, “wait, what a concept.” As I drove to work the other day, “Lovesong” by The Cure came on shuffle and I found myself getting lost in the lyrics once again and a vision of a girl, stuck in love, wandering around lost in her thoughts, popped into my head, almost like a music video in my head.

With each photo, you see her story unravel. The first set of photos shows the sun in her face, which represents the light she feels inside. She holds her hand to shade her eyes in the second photo, which conveys the message that she may not be ready, but with the following photo, she slowly gives in and embraces the sun.

The next set of photos, we follow her into the woods where she wanders around, lost in thought. She almost seems like she’s in a trancelike state. You can see the love she feels in her eyes and it leaves us to wonder, what is she thinking about? I wanted to convey mystery, wanderlust & love in this series and my main focus was to make sure that what I saw in my head, I could physically bring to life.

I wanted “Lovesong” to be heard and felt throughout the photos. My own interpretation of Lovesong.
