Final Cancellation: Gossip Girl 1.10 Recap

Hey Upper East Siders,

I think I spoiled you too much last week, and so now, I’m destined to do the same again. But the season’s almost over, even though the drama will never end. Things are heated. Things are tense. Let’s get into it.

Julien is having a hard time with Davis scandal. It doesn’t help that Davis is denying allegations on national TV, and that Kate screwed up last week with that GG live. Kate does feel super guilty about the live that went wrong. So, in order to make up for it, she’s attempting to manipulate her way into Scott’s (one of the GG teachers) pants. But back to JC, she’s being dropped by all her brands and free memberships. With Luna and Monet watching out for her, how bad could it really be? They tell her to try to look “normal” and “relatable.” As Luna says, “Borrow a dog and walk it or whatever.”

Zoya isn’t doing so well either now that her and her father have to move. It doesn’t help that they can no longer take that apartment from Davis. And the cherry on top? She’s about to lose her scholarship that Davis has funded as well. Thankfully, Jeremy O. Harris has stepped up and offered to cover her tuition. So it’ll be fine, right?

On the brighter side, we get some basketball action from Aki and Obie. It does lead to drama later on for Aki, but we’ll get there in a minute. For now, let’s focus on JC, because she seems to be the only one who’s life matters (ouch). She gets booed out due to the fact that there’s another new update about her on GG, which why does anyone even care about her at this point?

Shifting the focus to Max, he scored and invite with Gideon to Cyrus’s Hanukah party. In case you totally forgot about the OG Gossip Girl, Cyrus (Wallace Shawn) is Eleanor’s husband. Eleanor (Margaret Colin) is Blair’s mom. The amount of people going to this party, however, is not enough!

Back to the point though, Audrey wants to score an invite so that her mother can pitch her new line to Eleanor. Eleanor is part of the CFDA, after all. Max doesn’t want Audrey to attend because his feelings are hurt since he got left out of the throuple. But are we really surprised when she shows up?

Aki is also looking to Max for help. Since he beat the other team at basketball, one of the members sent an embarrassing video of Aki to GG. Aki tries to get back at this guy, but he ends up getting caught by security. He counts on Max to get him revenge, and Max obliges (even though again, he’s pissed).

Plan B by Luna and Monet is being presented as a charity party. Things obviously aren’t getting better, so what better way to make amends than throwing a party? Honestly, this seemed like a disaster the moment it was pitched. It seems like I’m not the only one who thought this, because no one is RSVPing.

Prior to the party, Obie shows up on JC’s doorstep. He’s brought her treats and seems determined to get the two of them back together. Julien seems interested as well, as she invites Obie to be her date to the lame-ass party that’ll be happening later on.

Back to the Hanukah party, guess who else is in attendance? Dorota (Zuzanna Szadkowski) and Vanya (Aaron Schwartz)! I definitely would rather be there than JC’s night.

Julien’s party is awful as we imagined. People only show up because Zoya lied that Jeremy Harris would be there. Even the “Jul-lions” (the huge stans of Julien) are officially canceling her. JC only makes things worse for herself when they say how much they hate her dress. She exposes that the designer is Kiki, the one thing Audrey asked Julien not to tell people.

Let’s get into how much Julien fucks up her night after this. First of all, Obie tries to get back together with her. In JC’s defense, he had horrible timing, but still. She stops him from sharing his feelings. Second of all, she blames Zoya for how everything ended with the party. And finally, she messes up with Audrey when she goes to rant about Zoya. Audrey snaps at her for consuming so much of them emotionally. Oh I almost forgot, JC deleted her insta. Maybe that one is for the best though.

Side note, Kate managed to slightly redeem Julien by hacking into Scott’s phone and using GG. Did she really deserve it though? Sorry, I’ll move on. I know we’re sick of all the Julien talk.

Things don’t go so well for Audrey either when she and Aki show up to see Max. He is so over being used by them. He says, “don’t sext me, don’t call me.” I guess that’s his way of blocking them IRL.

To wrap things up, Zoya might have to leave Constance because of that scholarship issue, which seems slightly minor to everything else going on. Lastly, Davis dipped. I don’t know how else to phrase it. He’s gone.

Alright, you know the routine. We’ll be back again tomorrow.

But until then,

Xoxo.
