Gossip Gone, Girl: Gossip Girl Recap 1.12

Hey Upper East Siders,

I can’t believe we’ll be departing ways for a short time. Now that the finale has arrived, what are you going to do with your time? I know you’ll miss me.

This episode started off strong with “Brutal” by Olivia Rodrigo playing. Two Rodrigo songs in one season? How did we ever get so lucky? The occasion for this song fit perfectly: chaos has ensued all over New York.

I told you, Kate, it was a horrible idea.

Max is still struggling with his feelings for Audrey & Aki. So much so that he is drugged out and participating in orgy’s. Not to mention, his dads are finalizing their divorce.

Julien is massively trying to reconnect with Obie, but he just doesn’t seem interested. Luna and Monet are working to reclaim JC’s throne, and they believe the only way to do it is to get the two back together. You may hate these two together [JC and Obie], but I can’t help but ship them together.

Unfortunately for Julien, Obie has found a new girl. Grace is the new prize in his eye, but we all know Luna and Monet won’t ever let that happen. The two plan to invite her and Obie to Aki’s annual Hudson New Year’s getaway trip. Why would they invite her, you may ask? To sabotage, of course.

Max is also being forced onto this trip. As much as he wants to avoid Aki and Audrey, the two are desperate to make this a serious throuple. Max is hesitant but ultimately decides to go.

Now at the Hudson house, we get to see that Luna has a love interest of her own. Farmer Rob (as I’ll forever refer to him) has been her secret affair for years. However, he wants to move to the city and be with her full time. In the end, Luna decides against this. How will she have time for schemes and revenge with a man holding her down?

“The Grace games” begin at lunch, where our mean girl trio works together to bring Grace down. Nothing is seeming to work until Luna finds dirt on how Grace is a “mean drunk.” Of course, this means they’re going to take her to a bar and let it all play out.

Back in the city, Davis shows up at Nick’s apartment. He wants to offer money to help Nick, Zoya, and JC stay at the current Upper West Side apartment. Nick isn’t sure whether or not to accept, and Kate is begging him not to. Nick decides to take the money, which sends Kate into a blind rage. However, Nick tells her off. Not all of us can be so noble, Kate.

At the bar, Luna is helping Max to realize he should give the throuple relationship a chance. He begins to do so but then changes his mind. Oh, Max, when are you going to realize that you have to do this? The next day, he changes his mind again, and now our favorite “triad” (as Audrey calls it) is altogether. They’ve decided it’s the three of them, or none of them at all, which seems to assure Max.

Our poor little Z has been excluded this whole trip. Julien forced her to go, but she’s been so preoccupied with Obie that she’s been ignoring her. When Zoya finds out the plan from Monet, she’s furious. When is Z going to learn that with JC, she’ll never get to be happy?

Everything seems to be going well with Obie and Julien at the bar. It even seems like JC is helping Grace out when she’s quite the mess. After Grace leaves the next day, due to embarrassment, Julien comes clean to Obie about the plan. He replies basically telling Julien to “let him go.” Wasn’t he just trying to get back together last week? Ugh, I can’t keep up.

Julien does find her ways of redemption at the NYE party. She sends Obie home to Grace, and that tragic couple reunites. She also sends Zoya home with her new friend Shan. Maybe JC is capable of greatness after all, but Monet doesn’t seem to like it one bit.

Now, the ending confused me a bit. Julien reaches out to Gossip Girl to kick start GG’s return after everything was released. She claims that GG needs her. Does this basically mean that Julien is GG now? I don’t quite understand.

Well, all that matters is our throuple is together. I know I can’t wait to see them together in season 2. Make sure to comment on what you’re most excited about, and we’ll make sure to keep track of all the predictions of what’s to come next.

But until then,

Xoxo.
