The Cringiest Middle School Outfit Essentials Are Making a Comeback

Remember that classic middle school outfit composed of the North Face Denali jacket, with Uggs and yoga pants? Would you believe me if I told you that your middle school essentials are making a comeback? Let’s face it, everything comes back eventually—your ex, a good deed, debt collectors, and even your most dreaded fashion era is back. The infamous North Face jacket, yoga pants, and Ugg boots are coming back into fashion trends; this is how they are being styled in 2021.

The North Face Jacket

In September 2020, The North Face came out with an MM6 Maison Margiela collaboration that brought back an innovative Denali Jacket. This release had sparked the comeback of North Face fleeces that are deemed a classic.

Hailey Baldwin paired her NF fleece with a knit beanie, a black long sleeve, and leather trousers. Bella Hadid styled her Circle Denali jacket similarly with a black Henley long sleeve top, black cargo trousers, and a studded belt reminiscent of the Hot Topic era.

Ugg Boots

This Winter, models have made Uggs trendy again. Let’s be honest with ourselves—they have never been stylish. But we have always kept them at the back of our closets. They are a shoe made for comfort; always cozy and there on standby to make a comeback. Uggs, 2021 is the year! Here’s how Emily Ratajkowski and Kendall Jenner styled their Uggs—off-duty-model vibes.

Yoga Pants (Flared leggings)

Aside from off-duty supermodels, Emma Chamberlain is also influencing fashion trends. After seeing the TikTok trend where Gen Z called yoga pants “flared leggings” (ouch), I found myself googling “are yoga pants back in style?” Yes, yoga pants are making a comeback, and we have Emma Chamberlain to thank.

Of all trends that have resurfaced, this is one I don’t mind and shamefully might favor. Thankfully these middle school essentials are not being paired together. But I will admit the comeback has been slightly triggering.

There are current fashion trends that I find myself taking part in, like digging out my middle school essentials from the back of my parent’s home closet and piecing them together with newer styles. While this may have been one of the most tasteless, unfashionable, and basic trends I went through growing up, there is value to the comfort and ease of this infamous fit. In the end, what matters is that we’re not leaving our abodes much these days, anyway!
