Kally's Playlists: Spring is in, Cabin Fever is Out
It’s officially spring of 2021 and with last year’s spring being spent in quarantine, it’s time to celebrate new beginnings. There is hope for us to have a fun summer as more people get vaccines this spring. This playlist symbolizes that we’re still keeping our distance and some of us are still quarantining, so we have cabin fever. The beginning of the playlist has more slow, psychedelic, and soulful songs like “Southern Nights” by Whitney and “Tadow” by Masego and FKJ. Towards the end of the playlist are more upbeat songs that represent us getting outside and having a good time as soon as it’s safe. Songs like “Half Mast” by Empire The Sun have that fun, buoyant beat. Many people will recognize the song as being sampled in “The Spins” by Mac Miller, which has been a popular sound on TikTok. Finally, the playlist ends with a Queen classic “Good Old Fashion Lover Boy.” It is a feel-good song that creates a going out and finding love feeling—many of us have that mindset for spring. Whether it’s finding romantic love or self-love, we’re all ready to get back out in the world and this playlist will get you ready.
