Leave Your Door Open for Bruno Mars' Catchy New Song
It’s official—Bruno Mars is back. But this time, he’s got a band with Anderson Paak called Silk Sonic. Their first song titled “Leave the Door Open” dropped on March 5th, and I could not have been any happier to listen to it immediately. Mars is for sure one of the best male vocalists of this generation with hit singles such as “Just the Way You Are”, “Uptown Funk”, “24K Magic”, “Treasure”, “Please Me (ft. Cardi B)” and many more.
It has been almost two years since Bruno Mars has released a song, so right when I heard the news of Silk Sonic via Mars’ Instagram, I was super excited. Listening to “Leave the Door Open” for the first time, I was not disappointed.
It gave me R&B, it gave me Soul, and it gave me all the 70s’ vibes I never knew I needed. I was not too familiar with Anderson Paak before listening to this song, so I enjoyed hearing just how amazing his voice is, especially paired with the soulfulness of the song. With admiration for the music, came admiration for the outfits showcased in the music video. These outfits were funky and homages to 70’s disco style.
This song is also trending on TikTok. There are over 50k videos of fans lip-syncing and dancing to this groovy song.
The song was performed live at the 63rd Grammy Awards on March 14. Surprisingly the duo was a last-minute addition to the ceremony. They performed in the 70s’ retro orange suits with sunglasses and twinkling lights in the background. Silk Sonic’s album An Evening With Silk Sonic will be released this year, the first album to be released by Mars’ in five years.

Not only is the song catchy, but it also gives off a very 70s’ inspired vibe, which is convenient considering all of the emerging 70’s trends in fashion and many other areas like furniture, and beauty.
