5 Must-Read Books

Are you looking to pretend your life is something out of a novel? Yeah, me too. Here are five of my favorite “must-read” books for anyone looking to add to their library:

1. The After Series by Anna Todd

The After series by Anna Todd has to be some of my all-time favorite books! If you’re looking for a romance with lots of drama to make you feel better about your own love life… this series is perfect for you. There are five books including a prequel, Before. I definitely recommend you check out this series. What’s a good love story without a bit of spice?

2. Call Me By Your Name by Andre Aciman

Call Me By Your Name is one of the most heart-warming and passionate love stories I have ever read. This book teaches the reader a lot about liberation and discovering your sexuality in a world that may not accept you for who you are. To add, the novel takes place on the Italian Riviera, what could be more romantic than that? I hope that you find this novel as touching as I did.

3. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

As you can see...I’m into romances. However, I find Pride and Prejudice to be an extremely feminist novel. Of course, there is a roller coaster of a love story, but I find the main character Elizabeth Bennet to be an extremely powerful woman. In an era that shamed women for defying men, she is able to fight back and gain the respect and love of a strong-willed man. This is definitely a classic that you must read!

4. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

Another love story… Are you surprised? Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte is one of the most famous pieces of English Literature. This book deals with the theme of soulmates and vengeance. Like all the great romances, there are hardships and triumphs. If you are looking for a read that will take you on an emotional rollercoaster, I absolutely recommend this novel.

5. Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen

Girl, Interrupted by Susanna Kaysen is an extremely important memoir. The author takes the reader back into her past as a patient in a psychiatric hospital during the 1960s. This novel deals with a lot of heavy topics regarding mental health and Borderline Personality Disorder. I would absolutely say that viewer discretion is advised when considering picking up this novel. However, I believe that it is really important to become aware of how mental health can affect a person and this book is a great example of that.
