Skirt of the Season: Miu Miu's Micro Mini is Everywhere
Y2K is probably the most beloved decade for style—even in the high fashion world. For this S/S season, many designers brought out all the nostalgic pieces, proving that they are part of the Y2K movement. One of these brands includes Miu Miu, which is a brand known for its iconic designs such as the micro mini skirt, which has taken over every stylist’s pull list and almost every magazine cover.

The skirt made its debut on the runway last October and has been huge ever since—pun intended. From celebrities to influencers, and even college magazine editors, the Miu Miu micro mini is a big yes on the S/S trend checklist. Creative Director of the brand, Miuccia Prada, made a wise and fashionable call when deciding to take a traditional workwear silhouette and crop it to the max.

Miu Miu also kept the famous micro-mini popular by including celebrities in their S/S 2022 campaign. These stars included Hailey Bieber, The Crown star Emma Corrin, Squid Game star Lee Yoo-mi, Atlantics star Mame Bineta Sane and models Ever Anderson and Alix Bouthors.
Along with the campaign, Miu Miu’s micro mini skirt was styled on other celebrities by stylists such as Carlos Nazario, who styled model Paloma Elsesser in the skirt for the cover of the Spring 2022 issue of i-D magazine. Katie Grand also styled actress Nicole Kidman in the skirt and top for the Vanity Fair 2022 Hollywood Issue, and Michael Philouze styled model Rebecca Longendyke for the February cover of Vogue Korea.

Just like all successful designer pieces, the must-have Miu Miu micro was recreated by many other brands, and also began to be DIYed by creators on TikTok. Some of the brands that have joined in on the micro mini skirt trend include Danielle Guizio, Miaou, and Fashion Nova (of course). Personally, we would rather try DIYing the skirt ourselves by taking a thrifted school girl skirt and making it Miu Miu material.
Even though the micro-mini skirt is everywhere, it is not exactly easy to get your hands on, which is why these dupes and DIYs might be an easier way to get the look—at a much more realistic level as well. Micro-minis are definitely one of the top trends for this season, so there is no doubt that the Miu Miu one will not be going out of style—anytime soon.
