Color Me Crazy: The Best Color Combos to Use When Accessorizing

Color-blocking is funky, daring, and such a fun way to liven up your style without getting too crazy (unless you want to). You can color-block anything from bubble rings and bags to tights and sunglasses.

However, you might not know the best color combinations to try with your accessories. This could make things pretty scary when deciding to go for a colorful look—especially if it is already out of your comfort zone. It’s a good thing to know a color combo or two to get you started and help ease that colorful pain you may currently be experiencing.

pink And orange

Pink and orange is one of the best color combos to use when accessorizing, especially during those warmer months. Designers like Versace and Poster Girl successfully executed the pink and orange color combo for their S/S’22 and F/W’22 collections.

Whether you’re pairing orange tights with pink platform Jeffery Campbell mules or pairing a cute orange Y2K-Esque baguette with bright pink sunglasses, shoes, and jewelry, this color combination never get’s old. It may not be for everyone, but for all my bright-color lovers—this one’s for you.

Red and Blue

Now, this may be a little too Fourth of July for some, but primary colors are always a win. Combining red and blue when accessorizing could make for the perfect look. Designers like Blumarine channeled this color-blocking combo in several looks for their F/W ‘21 collection.

The easiest way to experiment with this color palette would be by pairing a red or blue pair of shoes with a red or blue bag, and sunglasses, just to get your feet wet before you implement color-blocking into an entire look.

Green and blue

One of the best colors to color-block with is green. Think about it—green and purple, green and pink, green and orange, and green and blue. This color is currently popular amongst Gen-Z, with different shades of green serving as the colors of the year for some of the most well-known names in paint.

Green and blue can be pretty bright colors, just like orange and pink, so it’s better to choose one of the colors as the main base for the look you are accessorizing. Then use the other color for the added touches.

Let’s say you want to accessorize a green sparkly dress you just purchased from H&M. You can add a pair of blue heels, along with a blue bag to bring out the color. Or, you can add blue tights underneath, a pair of matching green heels, and a blue pair of gloves—to make them look extra fun.

Purple And Pink

Purple is another color that can be perfectly color-blocked. One of the best combinations, however, in terms of accessorizing is pink and purple. This color combo screams spring and summer—in the brightest way possible.

For this color combo, you can go for a cute pair of pink or purple platforms, like the Versace Medusa pumps (that have many dupes out there for everyone’s budget), add a pair of pink or purple knee-high socks or tights, and finish it off with a cute pink or purple bag and jewelry.

Color-blocking is an easy and fun way to accessorize and create bold, colorful looks. You just need to be creative—use your lovely imagination. Whether you would rather combine blue and red, or pink and orange, we hope this guide gave you an idea of what color combos you can try out this spring and summer season.
