Emmy’s 2022: Best Hair & Make-up Looks

The 74th Emmy’s Award Show took place on Monday, September 12th, 2022, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. Every year the anticipation rises for the nominees of the awards; however, the looks the actors and actresses arrive in are a very close second. Many of the looks caught the viewer’s attention but we are here to show you the best hair and make-up from the night.

Take a look our favorites from the night:

Zendaya

The Emmy winner and Euphoria star Zendaya arrived in a sophisticated but timeless look. Zendaya’s hair was pulled back and secured with a black satin ribbon and the teasing at the crown gave retro-inspired volume. Her makeup was simple, but pretty. Zendaya’s makeup artist, Sheika Daley, used all Lancôme Beauty to achieve the look. The base consisted of the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear Care in Glow in shade 405W and the Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear All Over Concealer in 335 to highlight and conceal the under-eyes. Daley set the skin with the Lancôme Dual Finish Powder Foundation in 345 & 370. To add a pop color to the cheeks, she applied the Lancôme Blush Subtil Powder Blush in shade ‘Absolutely Happy’.

For the eyes, she began with the eyebrows, filling them in using the Lancôme Brow Shaping Powdery Pencil in 04 Brown. For a light eyeshadow look, she used the Lancôme Hypnose 5 Color Eyeshadow palette in ‘Taupe Craze’. To finish the eyes, she applied a wing liner using the Lancôme Idole Liner and the Lancôme Le 8 Hynose Mascara. Lastly, for the lips, Daley applied the Lancôme L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick in shade ‘118 French Coeur’ and the Lancôme Juicy Tubes in ‘Hallucination’ to add a golden shine to the center.

Celebrity hairstylist Tony Medina used Tangle Teezer and Aunt Jackie's products to achieve Zendaya’s voluminous look. Medina used Hidden Crown clip-in extensions in a medium auburn brown shade for extra volume and added frizz control with the Aunt Jackie's Frizz Proof Anti-Poof Twist & Curl Setting Mousse. For a finishing touch, he added the Aunt Jackie's Shine Boss to give a shine to the hair.

Sheryl Lee Ralph

Abbot Elementary star and Emmy winner Sheryl Lee Ralph lit up the room with her rhinestone braid and matching eye-look. Ralph’s main focus of the look was the rhinestones; they began at the scalp and trickled their way down to the bottom of the braid. To keep unison, three rhinestone gems were added to her sultry eye-look. The look consisted of matte neutral browns in the crease and a dark winged liner. To complete the look, she wore a perfectly nude lip.

Sydney Sweeney

Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney arrived on the red carpet with a soft and simple but modern glam. Sweeney’s makeup artist, Melissa Hernandez, used all Giorgio Armani products to achieve this look.

Hernandez prepped the skin with the Armani Beauty Luminous Silk Primer and followed up with the Armani Luminous Silk Foundation in shade 5.75 for an even base. She then used the Luminous Silk Concealer in shade 5 to brighten the center of the face and conceal the under-eyes. Lastly for the base, Herndadez set with the Luminous Silk Glow Setting Powder in shade 5.5.

To bring definition to her face, Hernandez applied the Neo Nude Color Balm to contour Sweeneys’ cheekbones and applied the Neo Nude A-Blush in shade 50 to add a flush of pink to the cheeks. For the eyes, Hernandez kept the look simple using the Eye Tint Liquid Eyeshadow and the Smooth Silk Eyeliner. To complete the look, she applied the Lip Power Long-Wear Satin Lipstick in shade 109; a soft nude pink.

Elle Fanning

The Great star Elle Fanning arrived in an Old Hollywood inspired look. Fanning’s hairstylist, Jenda Alcorn, took inspiration from 1920’s flappers with pin curls and a bejeweled hair clip.

To add to the flappers inspired look, Fanning’s makeup artist, Erin Ayanian, used Loréal Paris products. The makeup was kept very simple with minimal coverage on the skin, bright blush, bold liner and a nude lip. To achieve the light coverage base, use the Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream. The Age Perfect Radiant Satin Blush with Camellia Oil in shade ‘405 Mauved’ will give you the rosy flushed cheek Fanning wore. The Infallible Pro-Last Water Proof, Up to 24 Hour Pencil Eyeliner will create the smokey liner look Fanning adorned and for her pink nude lip, apply the Satin Lipstick in shade ‘Ballerina Shoes’.

Alexandra Daddario

The White Lotus star, Alexandra Daddario, kept her look classy and timeless; you can’t go wrong with a bold red lip and straight, sleek hair. Daddario hairstylist for the Emmy’s, Marty Harper, used DESIGNME Hair Care to achieve the pin straight look.

For Daddario’s makeup, artist Lottie Stannard kept her look effortless to make the red lip pop. The eyeshadow was kept minimal with a wash of brown eyeshadow in the crease. Stannard used Dior beauty products for Daddario’s makeup. To achieve the same red lip, use Rouge Dior Forever Lipstick in shade ‘999 Forever’.

We all know the Emmy’s are for awarding best actors, but we are here to award the best hair and makeup of the night! All five looks were stunning, but our personal favorite was Sheryl Lee Ralph. She brought something unexpected with rhinestone gems but kept her makeup sultry and classy.

She’s a winner in the academy’s eyes but also ours.
