For Pleasing’s first collaboration, their goal was to find someone who also enjoyed pops of color and would help generate stimulating products. Designer Marco Ribeiro is known for his use of unbridled color. “To me, the way Marco uses color is so inspiring. Everything he makes radiates fun, joy, and playfulness. When we started discussing collaborators for Pleasing, Marco was the first person I wanted to ask,” Styles tells Vogue.

Marco Ribeiro is a Brazil-born, Paris-based fashion designer. The collection is shared touchpoints of creativity that align with Ribeiro’s colorful vision. Ribeiro chose shades and tones that take on creativity and experimentation. The collection was made to be universal, encouraging freedom of expression, and giving the customer the ability to play. “For me, colors say so much—it’s like a language,” says Ribeiro.

The Gloss Medium is a high-shine gloss that can be used for eyes, lips, and skin. While formulating the pigments, Ribeiro says that it was important for the selected shades to be inclusive. “That was the most important for me as a Black person; it needs to look good on any skin type,” he says.

Apparel

The Pleasing x Marco Ribeiro collection is also releasing apparel. Ribeiro created two logo hoodies, a brown and yellow and pink and red. The brown and yellow hoodie is called the Mais, and the pink and red hoodie is called the Amor when combined reads to say mais amor, which means “more love” in Portuguese.

“We’re sharing love with the world right now,” says Ribeiro. “People need that now, especially coming off the pandemic.” The hoodies are manufactured in Los Angeles and made of 100 percent cotton, using 50% recycled and 50% organic yarn and closed loop manufacturing.

Ribeiro hopes for customers to have fun with it all. “It’s an invitation to be playful, to experiment, and to enjoy yourself,” he says. “The products don’t have rules!,” he says.

The Pleasing x Marco Ribeiro is a vibrant collection that will bring people together to express themselves. The collection drops September 29th at 9 am PST / 12 pm EST / 5 pm BST on the Pleasing website.
