The Best Moments from New York Fashion Week A/W'23

New York Fashion Week has come to a memorable end, and the shows were all we needed and more. For the Autumn/Winter 2023 season, designers who showcased their collections made victorious measures to execute the "fun” in fashion. The shows were unexpected yet imaginative — from fried egg nipple covers to briefcases and bunny-shaped bags, this NYFW was outrageously grandiose. Here are some of our favorite moments from this season's shows.

PLAYFUL HANDBAGS AT Coach

Coach is no stranger to pulling together iconic looks, and creating iconic accessories in the process. For their Autumn/Winter 2023 showcase, they created playful monogrammed handbags in all different shapes, sizes, and colors. From an apple to red lips, and even a brown puppy bag; there is no doubt that these fun bags will be seen all over next season.

CAFETERIA VIBES AT PUPPETS AND PUPPETS

Puppets and Puppets defied the saying “don’t play with your food” in the most fashionable way possible. There were looks that included fried egg nipple covers, as well as cookie, rose, and fried egg-adorned purses. While many might not be a fan of sporting their food, Puppets, and Puppets definitely executed their message clearly — food is fun, so why not wear it?

LAYERING AT HERON PRESTON

Heron Preston came back hard with his Autumn/Winter collection. After taking a short hiatus from runway shows, he finally made his debut at NYFW. His collection “Anything Goes” brought out all of the grunge Y2K vibes while honoring New York in the process. From puffer jackets and dress combos to the classic slip dress overtop a long-sleeve, this show was one for the books.

A HOMAGE TO NEW YORK AT WHO DECIDEs WAR

Who Decides War promoted streetwear in true New York fashion. Baggy silhouettes and experimental energy was painted all over the “Politics As Usual” collection. To further reflect its mark on streetwear, Who Decides War also introduced its venture into footwear in the collection, collaborating with Adidas on an updated Superstar Sneaker.

ALL THE Accessories AT LAQUAN SMITH

LaQuan Smith is no stranger to showcasing killer looks while simultaneously keeping it classy. For the Autumn/Winter showcase, a series of accessories were displayed that we will definitely start to see pop up everywhere. Thick cuffs and statement jewelry were spotted, as well as a business-ready briefcase.

ELEVATED SHOULDERS AT LUAR

There is no question that 80's fashion has been reappearing in several collections over the past couple of seasons. For its Autumn/Winter showcase, Luar did not hold back when it came to promoting the shoulder-pad trend in a more elevated way. The idea of power dressing was reflected tenfold, and both women’s and menswear looks were showcased.

FABRICS AND silhouettes AT NOID

Influencer Denzel Dion debuted his first runway show for his brand Noid at NYFW. The show, titled “Collusion” was a massive success, with a focus on structured fabrics and silhouettes. Regarding the collection, Dion told Hypebeast, “I really wanted to hone in on what I love to wear. I design what I want to see on the racks,” said Dion. “I wanted to have fun, but honing in on my aesthetic which is shoulder-pads, leathers, furs, and a luxe feel.”

While these were some of our favorite moments from the shows this New York Fashion Week, we anticipate there will be many more memorable moments from the rest of this fashion month.
