Meet the Band: Sir Synthesis

Welcome back to “Meet the Band,” a series where I interview local bands and help you discover your new favorite artist. Today's installment is on Sir Synthesis, a NJ based band with an eclectic array of reference points that creates fun indie/alternative pop rock.

Sir Synthesis consists of Thress (bassist and vocals), Deivi (guitarist), Sellos (drums), and Ben the Shooter (guitarist).

The lineup of the night was Yo! Kinky, Rat Motel, Sir Synthesis, and Tulavera. We just interviewed Rat Motel and Sir Synthesis has just performed, we thought it was a great time to start the interview.

Sir Synthesis

Me: To start, where are you guys based?
Thress: We are all mostly from Hudson County NJ - Union City, Jersey City, Newark, and Little Falls.

Me: How long have you been in a band?

Thress: We've been a band for about a year now, we started not too long ago… we kinda just started jamming together and the vibes meshed well like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.

Me: And where do you see yourselves in 5 years?

Thress: In 2023 we’ll be verified, 2024 we’re gonna be signed, 2025,2026 we’re gonna be opening for like Harry Styles, Bille Eilish, etc.

Me: I love that.

Me: Moving on to musical inspirations in which I'm assuming, Harry Styles, is one of them?

Thress: Yes definitely.

Deivi: For me, I'm not too sure... I grab energy from my bandmates and I kind of honestly follow what they do… I also listen to all types of genres, R&B, Motown, Alternative, etc. so I kinda like to jam all of those together for inspo.

Me: Since we are majorly a fashion magazine.. What are your style inspos?

Thress: Ah for me I love NYFW, I've seen lots of nice pieces. Recently got into the whole mirror design… That whole chrome look, neon, etc… streetwear is also super cool.

Deivi: Honestly I have no idea… I love 90s style even though today's look isn't very 90s.. I just see something I like and mix it all together.

Thress: Sometimes the vibe is just leaving the house in whatever… honestly if it fits and it looks good that's all that really matters… being yourself is key.

Me: 100 percent.

Me: Lastly, Sir Synthesis where did the name come from?

Thress: Oh, it's another way of saying ‘boy band’ - Sir, boy and Synthesis - band.

Me: ooooh!

Thress: it's like an aged boy band like fine wine... Hennesey haha.

Me: alright and that's all thank you!

Thress and Deivi: thanks!

Now that you got to meet the band, it’s time to check out their music!
