H&M Studio has taken the next step into its newest Spring/Summer 2023 collection with Kali Uchis—introducing elevated evening wear. The collection is inspired by the queens of Hollywood’s Golden Age and the biggest celebrities of today, according to L’Officiel Magazine. The collection includes after-dark designs, loungewear favorites, and imposing accessories, L’Officiel Magazine says.

The brand's key pieces are evening gowns that catch the eye of plenty. These gowns bring star-worn outfits to consumers which can create a trend strike. L'Officiel Magazine provides an overview of the glamorous ready-to-wear collection: oversized trench coats, leather motorbike jackets, and faux fur jackets for that bad girl look. In addition, denim material sweats that give consumers the option of little effort when coming up with an outfit.

Accessories include: shiny high-end leather boots, rhinestone-studded lingerie, and huge sunglasses, L’Officiel Magazine reports. The main garments needed to complete the look is an oversized waistcoat and high-waisted maxi skirt, L’Officiel Magazine explains. Both of these items are made with a blend of organic and post-consumer cotton and are embellished with hundreds of hand-sewn buttons, L’Officiel Magazine says.

We all know about the fast fashion drama this brand has caused, but are they taking a turn on things for this collaboration?

L’Officiel Magazine says that the garment's buttons are partly made with recycled plastic collected from waste pickers in Bengaluru and the streets of India. This is part of a partnership between H&M Group and the social enterprise, Hasiru Dala Innovations, L’Officiel Magazine reports.

H&M follows sustainable goals for the collection by including materials like organic cotton, recycled polyester, chrome-free leather, and even Naia Renew, which is a recycled fiber made from 60% sustainability-sourced pulp and 40% certified recycled waste, L’Officiel Magazine states.

Kali Uchis’ inspiration for this collaboration came from the Latin, Golden Age cinema icon, Maria Felix. Uchis tells Nylon Magazine, “She inspires glamour and strength.” With a campaign that explores life in the spotlight, Uchis says that she keeps her personal life “very private” to keep balance within her life.

“Strangers thinking, they know your life is a huge pet peeve,” she tells Nylon Magazine.

Uchis remembers her childhood shopping at H&M while growing up in Virginia. She tells Nylon Magazine that she loves how the company provides clean basics.

Even though the Spring/Summer 2023 collection dropped on March 2nd, there is still time to go grab your favorite looks and feel like a glamorous Hollywood star.

“I always feel that people should just wear whatever they want and do their own thing,” Uchis tells Nylon Magazine.  Similar to her music, Uchis' personal style has always been lauded for defying categorization in terms of aesthetics.
