Women’s College Basketball Final Four Results

Women’s college basketball has been phenomenal this year. With Caitlin Clark breaking records to South Carolina, who is undefeated. The Quarter-finals were stressful for me as a viewer because of the great matchups. 

In the quarter-finals, Iowa’s Caitlin Clark led a rally for a 71-69 win over UConn, advancing to the Final Four. Meanwhile, South Carolina, led by All-America center Kamilla Cardoso, kept its perfect season going with a 78-59 victory over North Carolina State, also advancing to the Final Four.


NC State Vs. South Carolina

The match between NC State and South Carolina was a thrilling one. At halftime, NC State trailed South Carolina by just one point. However, in the second half, South Carolina dominated, outscoring the Wolfpack by 18 points to secure a 78-59 victory.

South Carolina’s standout center, Kamilla Cardoso, led the team with a high of 22 points, shooting an efficient 10-12 from the field. Ashlyn Watkins, a forward from South Carolina, also had an impressive game with a game-high 20 rebounds.

Despite the loss, NC State’s Aziaha James performed well, scoring a team-high 20 points. The game was closely contested in the first half, with the teams tied at 16 points at the end of the first quarter.

However, South Carolina pulled away in the second half, outscoring the Wolfpack by 23 points in the third quarter to push its lead to 61-37. NC State fought back in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Gamecocks by five points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit1.

With this win, South Carolina advances to the national championship for the second time in the past four seasons

 

Iowa Vs. Uconn

The game between Iowa and UConn was a nail-biter. Iowa managed to pull off a victory over UConn with a final score of 71-69. Iowa’s Caitlin Clark led the team’s rally, scoring 21 points. She made three momentum-turning 3-pointers in the second half. Iowa’s Hannah Stuelke also had a strong performance, leading the team with 23 points.

Despite the loss, UConn’s Paige Bueckers and Aaliyah Edwards each scored 17 points. The game was tied at 51-all before Clark scored seven points in the first 2 1/2 minutes of the fourth quarter to give Iowa a small cushion. UConn managed to get within three points, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the deficit.

With this win, Iowa advances to the national championship game, where they will face South Carolina.
