Trend Report: Hottest Beauty Trends Spotted at NYFW 2025
As the 2025 NYFW comes to an end, the runway showcased not only glitz and glamour through the outfits but also impressive makeup and hair. Beauty is just as much a statement as fashion itself. This year, we saw a lot of bold and over-the-top looks that have set the tone for the season. Let's take a look at the craziest trends and looks from this year.
A Nod to the 90s
This season, the 90s made a comeback on the runway, particularly in makeup and hair. At Khaite, makeup artist Diane Kendal was heavily influenced by the '90s beauty trends. Models were seen rocking iconic thin eyebrows, velvet skin, and smudged liner. Coach models were wearing a range of Y2K-inspired pastel lipsticks, which was a perfect contrast to their exploration of American style this season.
Manicure Madness
Crazy, bold nails were the talk on the runway. Unlike previous seasons, many brands incorporated intricate nail looks. Christian Cowen models were seen with mismatched chrome sets. NYC-based designer Kim Shui had her models wear different nail looks that matched the materials used in her latest collection. Nail artist Coco Michelle worked with her team for over 17 hours to create various press-ons for models inspired by Shui's collections. Models have been seen wearing chrome-textured, crocodile-embossed, pierced, hyperrealistic, snakeskin, and embossed nails. An homage to the queer and drag community, models at Laur wore faux-feather press-ons as a nod to their collection.
Funky Lashes
Fun, unique lashes were seen on many models throughout fashion week, making every blink a dramatic one. At Ulla Johnson, instead of using mascara, she used silver eye shadow. Makeup artist Romy Soleimani used the Les Phyto-Ombres 30 Silky Sky from Sisley on their lashes for a striking metallic look, which made the eyes pop. Similarly, at Anna Sui, celebrity makeup artist Pat McGrath used pastel shades and used sky blue for their lashes.
Hollywood Glamour
An ode to old Hollywood glamour, designer Christian Siriano featured black and white pieces that contrasted with the vintage makeup looks worn by the models. They were seen wearing muted red-orange lips with velvet skin and dramatic graphic liner. While Sirano had a sophisticated take on the glamour look, Sandy Liang took on a more youthful approach. Models were rocking stunning bouncy curls that added the 50s glamour.
