Evolving Palettes: The New Color Schemes of Fall and Winter

As we begin to prepare our new fall and winter wardrobe, I’m sure we already have an idea of what items of clothing we are going to purchase in order to make statements this holiday season. Whether it’s combining dark red and velvet with a cream cashmere or pairing black and brown together, the choices are limitless. The color palettes of fall and winter don’t have to stop at simple shades of browns, blues, reds, and greens.

If you stop to look around as I have, we’re now seeing people bring more pops of color to their wardrobes and ditching the typical holiday colors. I’ve seen a range of colors paired with chartreuse, golden yellow, hot pink, and it doesn’t stop there. Let’s take a look at some color combinations that are taking over the fall and winter this year:

These colors compliment each other perfectly. The blue brings that winter’s touch and the “Let it Snow” aesthetic, while the bold red warms up the look. This shade of red is a color that makes you feel the holiday spirit from the moment you put it on.

Cocoa Brown and Golden Yellow

These two colors are perfect to wear in the beginning of fall as we are leaving the summer behind. The golden yellow is bright and fun. It elevates the brown tones, especially on accessories like some fun striped socks or a purse. It’s the adequate combination of fun and classy, perfect for daily wear.

Bright Chartreuse and Plum

This combination may just be my personal favorite. In my opinion, chartreuse is the most versatile color to pair with. It brings a light touch that turns heads and makes people want more, exactly what fashion should be about. Plum brings a rich appeal to the look when combined with chartreuse.

This combination is applicable to both seasons, which makes it a statement on its own. These colors bring the best look to a Thanksgiving dinner table while also bringing the “Candyland” vibes to the holiday season. The brown brings a vintage appeal and the pink brings a youthful energy, making this a timeless look for any age.

Overall, it is fascinating to see how color schemes during the holidays have evolved in such an inspiring way. Seeing one person implement color into a muted season of clothing can create a movement for others to start as well.
