You Can See Everything and the Connection to Letterboxd

This year has been the year for movies. People have started going back to the theater, watching more movies at home, and, most of all, reviewing movies on Letterboxd.

With the recent resurgence in movie watching, people want their friends to know what they are watching and how they feel about it. There is also the appeal of having a catalog of all the movies you have watched and want to watch. Letterboxd fixes all these problems; it has so many features and tools to make sure your experience is exactly what you need. You can write whatever you want; it can be a few words or a whole book about how you felt about the flim.

I can’t lie, I’m on the app almost every day, checking what my friends are doing and seeing what is trending right now. As I look at different movie lists, my favorite part is trying to figure out what I'll watch next.

Movie watching has surged over the past two years, and surprisingly, a new movie that just came out is the best-rated on Letterboxd of all time. The movie is You Can See Everything, directed by Nathan Fielder and Lance Oppenheim. The movie follows Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes in her last few weeks before going to prison for fraud and conspiracy. She spent those weeks with a film crew, including Nathan Fielder, an acclaimed comedian known for Nathan for You, The Rehearsal, and The Curse. His awkward personality makes almost everything he does hilarious. Reviews have been outstanding, with 304,700 five-star ratings and only 507 half-star ratings. That ratio is outstanding, not just for Letterboxd, but for any rating service. People cannot get enough of this movie, with one user saying, “I went to bed thinking about this movie; I woke up thinking about this movie; I don’t want to talk to you unless it’s discussing this movie.” There are thousands upon thousands of these kinds of reviews.

Even though I haven't seen You Can See Everything yet, I'm excited to write a full essay about how I felt about this movie on my Letterboxd account.
