In the late 1950s, nude, beige, and light brown tones were the best-selling tight colors. This was until the early 1960s, when designer Mary Quant introduced miniskirts. Later, in the mid-60s, the style of wearing a short miniskirt and a bold pair of tights became a defining symbol of London’s youth fashion. Because of this influence, women began experimenting with color and patterns, trading neutral tones for soft pastels and adding subtle stripes and polka dots.
