Who Said Men Couldn't Rock a Glam Look?!

There has been a stereotype that makeup isn’t for guys, but the last time I checked, makeup has no gender label. Who said that defines their masculinity? And if we’re being honest, guys look sexy with a dark waterline and a touch of glitter.
Makeup has been around for many years; women wore it, and men wore it—but not the way you think. There was no glitter or even a cherry Chapstick in sight. Men wore heavy eyeliner for cultural, symbolic, and practical reasons. Whether it was for protecting their eyes from the sun, warding off the evil eye, or simply for a boost of confidence, men were rocking that heavy eyeliner while fighting to the death.
It’s time we stopped ignoring the obvious: guyliner needs to be talked about more—men wearing makeup and being their most authentic selves, free from judgment. And as of 2026, men are coming out of the shadows showing their skincare routines, and that includes makeup. We went from seeing men with little to no makeup on the fashion runway to full glam looks on our TikTok “For You Page.”
If we were to look at the 90s and 2000s era, men like Prince, Marilyn Manson, Adam Lambert, and Jared Leto rocked a smoky under eye like it was no one’s business. With a quick swipe of colored eyeshadow, they were never ashamed to walk into a room with a beat face, bringing in grunge and glam all at once.

Men can bring that iconic energy. Speaking of, Luke Evans, who took the Broadway stage in “The Rocky Horror Show” dressed in full drag, looking absolutely fabulous. He was showing off that bright red lip, smoky green eyeshadow, with a sharp, skinny brow, and lashes. Nothing beats a confident man.
At the end of the day, men look great with makeup; there is no rule book on who can wear it. It’s all a part of a creative and expressive world where everyone is welcomed to be a part of, no matter the gender. And again, because they rock a Mac red lip, it doesn’t define who they are, but it does define how fabulous they look.
