Even though the winter season is still going strong, spring and summer are right around the corner. And let’s just say, the accessory trends are hot and ready to be worn.

From bug-like sunglasses, bracelet-sized bags, and all things out of the ordinary, this spring and summer season is filled with accessory trends that will keep us entertained, and fashionable for seasons to come.

Lift me up A Size or two

Just like last season, platforms are huge—literally. If you don’t already own a pair, I suggest you invest in one to give you all the inches you may, or may not, want (or need) in your life. Platforms are being worn in all colors, shapes, and voluminous sizes—fit for anyone’s aesthetic. This season, brands like Lanvin, Moschino, Versace, and many more took the platform trend to new heights with their S/S’22 collections.

BIG BAGS ARE STILL PRETTY BIG

Another trend reprising its role from last season is the oversized bag. These bags have a lot of utility, and even though they may be huge, oversized bags are the perfect accessory for everyday life.

If you are still in school, trade-in your dusty old backpacks for one of these cute oversized bags to fit all of your baggage in (physical and emotional). From Chanel to Miu Miu, to Givenchy, the designer supply of oversized tote bags is endless—so get your hands on one.

TOTALLY BUGGIN’ Over these sunglasses

Everyone loves a good pair of sunglasses—especially when they’re oversized. This S/S’22 trend is fresh off the runway and ready to be worn by you. Sunglasses are easily the best way to accessorize—and hide those eye bags, of course.

This season, designers like Balenciaga, Prada, Acne Studios, and many more participated in the trend, putting their own unique slants on it. These sunnies emerged from the A/W’21 runway season last year. As we make our way into spring and summer, Cyber-sunnies aren’t going anywhere.

Out of the ordinary

This one is for all of the maximalists out there. Unconventional accessories are going to be a hot trend this S/S season. From cheese hats to ice cream purses to cracked egg heels, the runway just got a whole lot funkier. How could you not be intrigued?

Granted, it may be a questionable choice, but a thrilling one at that. The “f” in fashion is for fun after all. So, it is no question why brands like Moschino, Loewe, and Undercover took that into consideration when designing these out-of-the-ordinary accessories.

NO NEED FOR BRACELETS—JUST WEAR A TINY BAG

From oversized bags to micro ones and bags that you can literally wear as a bracelet, this season’s runway shows were full of variety—we’re not complaining.

It’s liberating to carry nothing on you but your lipgloss and ID cards. If you strive for a clutter-free lifestyle this S/S season, micro bags are definitely the way to do it. Versace, Fendi, and other brands have dabbled in the trend for a reason, and we are loving it.

CINCH THAT WAIST

Chain belts typically aren’t a fan favorite, but some of these runway shows have convinced us that they can be a great way to accessorize.

We all know that the Y2K resurgence is stronger than ever, and these chain belts can be an easy way to dive into the era’s style, if you haven’t already. Chanel, Blumarine, and many other iconic designers put their own spin on the chain belt trend this season—and we can’t say we hate it.

GLOVED UP with NOWHERE TO GO

Yet another trend from last season that has made its way back around the fashion-sphere is gloves. Obviously, this time around the color palette is a bit more appropriate for the S/S season.

Whether they are long, short, leather, or mesh—gloves are still too hot to drop just yet. So if you have not given them a chance, we suggest you do.

The brighter the better

Bright colors are in for 2022, and accessories are no exceptions. Tights, shoes, bags, jewelry, and everything in between are looking happier than ever.

With spring and summer creeping in, bright colors are just what we need to get us in the mood for that sun-bathing, poolside weather. We love pops of pink, orange, green and more just as much as the next trend-obsessed fashion lover. It’s safe to say we’ll be rocking this trend all season long.

SAfety PIN it up

Safety pins are reminiscent of punk fashion, so we were pleased to see the trend in a much more colorful, spring/summer type of way on the runways this season.

The Versace show was full of safety pins in almost every look, and it was absolute perfection. Moschino also had a couple of safety pins in their S/S’22 show—we can’t help but love this trend.

A FIST FULL OF CHUNKY RINGS

Again with the nostalgic touches, the bubble rings and chunky rings of the 90s and early 2000s were all over the runway for this S/S’22 season.

If you have not yet dug into the chunky ring trend, even back when it first started to become popular again in early 2021, now is the time to try it out and experiment with your style a little further.

With this go-to list of S/S accessory trends to prepare you, there is no need to look to your favorite influencers or even social media platforms for further inspiration. While these accessories might not be everyone’s cup of tea, always remember that fashion, and accessorizing, is about having fun and playing with your style!
