Every Sunday, many of us have collectively sat in front of our TVs or laptops at 9 pm on the dot to watch Euphoria. The finale of Euphoria aired on February 27th, and once again HBO Max crashed due to a high volume of viewers. The anticipation was high for fans everywhere, but more specifically beauty lovers who were anxious to see the rest of season 2’s makeup evolution.

Without further ado, let’s break down some of the characters looks throughout the season.

Lexi’s LOok

Lexi’s (Maude Apatow) makeup has changed drastically from the beginning of season 2. Lexi is known for her soft girl aesthetic that features minimal makeup—with the exception of an occasional red lip. As the season progresses, Lexi’s makeup tends to get darker and bolder as she begins incorporating dark eyeliner looks and deep berry lip colors.

The progression of her looks starts with her Twiggy-inspired purple eyeshadow and graphic lower lash liner. Euphoria’s makeup artist, Donni Davy, states “instead of fake lashes on her lower lash line, it felt more Lexi-like for her to have drawn on her own unique version of something reminiscent of fake lashes.”

A pivotal scene in Lexi’s makeup choices is during the play when the audience is taken back a moment with Maddy (Alexa Demie) while she was doing her makeup. In this scene, Lexi expresses that she does not have the confidence to wear bold looks like Maddy, to which Maddy responds “the thing about confidence is nobody knows if it’s real or not.” It is at this point in the show that you can start to notice Lexi becoming more expressive with her makeup looks.

Towards the end of season 2, we see Lexi becoming more involved with Fezco (Angus Cloud). Their relationship is the typical good girl/bad boy romantic trope. Her makeup starts to mirror her life as she becomes involved with a more dark and mysterious character. Lexi does not shy away from the smokey black liner and deep berry lips with her newfound confidence and romance budding with Fezco.

Kat’s Makeup

Throughout season 2, Kat (Barbie Ferreira) was seen wearing lots of blue eyeshadow looks.

Our first glance into Kat’s makeup this season was her New Year’s Eve look. Her eyeshadow colors consisted of a bright chartreuse pop in the crease and a gorgeous sky blue swiped across the lid. The contrasting colors pop against her dark brown eyes and pale skin to create a stunning look.

Continuing to work with the blue tones, Kat is seen rocking a sharp black liner with a periwinkle glitter liner on top in episode 5. This look takes fans back to the edgy Kat that we saw in season 1, but with a soft, feminine flair to it.

Another favorite look of ours from episode 5 was her Twiggy-inspired, sky blue, graphic shadow look. This eyeshadow and winged liner effect brightened up Kat’s darker eye color.

Maddy’s Makeup

Maddy’s makeup throughout the season did not drastically change as much as the other characters. Since season 1, Donni Davy and Alexa Demie have collaborated to create fierce and bold eye makeup looks to portray Maddy as the confident woman she is.

Maddy’s makeup consists of bold, graphic liner and her signature brown lip. Straying away from her typical makeup style wouldn’t add to her character development. Maddy is secure in who she is and her look reflects that.

Cassie’s look

Cassie’s (Sydney Sweeney) makeup evolution has portrayed her ultimate downfall and consistent manic episodes throughout season 2.

Cassie’s makeup in the first episode showcased the multitude of emotions she was experiencing. Her disappointment in herself and the immense amount of fear she had knowing that she has betrayed her best friend, Maddy. This look was the first glimpse into the makeup playing a large role in the emotions of the characters, as Davy mentions was a major theme this season. The rhinestones on her lid were a change from the softer looks she had back in season 1.

The ‘Oklahoma’ inspired outfit in episode 3 caused various reactions from the other characters. Her style choice evoked the iconic, and TikTok trending, line from Maddy, “B***h, you better be joking,” after asking if she looks like a country music star in a good way or a bad way. This is a turning point in the show where the audience can see Cassie is losing herself.

While cosplaying Maddy in episode 5, Cassie’s identity crisis becomes apparent, along with her main focus on receiving validation and love from Nate (Jacob Elordi). In this episode, the montage of Cassie vigorously getting ready at 4 am for school further highlights the lengths she’ll go to for an ounce of his attention. The audience was truly able to see the obsession and infatuation Cassie had developed for Nate.

Lastly, in the season finale, Cassie fully portrayed Maddy in hopes to win over Nate. In the episode, we see Cassie has fully encapsulated Maddy’s look with a bold colorful liner and sleek hair. In an interview done by Nylon, Minerva, the nail artist for Euphoria states, “We wanted to keep the femininity that Cassie brings to the show while giving her a slightly new voice in her beauty looks.”

Jules’ Makeup

In season 2, Jules’ (Hunter Schafer) makeup has subsided compared to season 1. Episode 1 was the boldest of looks for Jules this season. The double black eyeliner alluded to the strength she had built through going to therapy and figuring out her idea of femininity. The most drastic change for Jules was her new short bob haircut.

In regards to her makeup, it was much more simple this season Due to Jules’ character not being at the forefront of season 2, her makeup appeared less intense and bold.
