Imagination Has No Limits: Loewe’s AW’22 Collections

The creative director for one of the world’s major luxury houses, Loewe, Jonathan Anderson has been impressing the audience with each of his masterpieces ever since he was appointed to the role in 2013.

His unique artistic approach contributes to the creation of his pieces. Anderson is known to be a huge experimenter and it reflects in his collections.

If you want to explore how playful and adventurous Loewe’s Creative Director can be, start by taking a look at the men’s Fall/Winter 2022 collection which was released in January this year and is full of tricks.

Anderson exposed his fun and playful side with this collection. This season, he has been playing with illumination and transparency. Garments are turned inside out, torn exposing the skin, hoops are sewn into pieces creating volume, and feminine silhouettes were the front-runners of this collection.

The central message with this collection is that “perfection is fabricated, imperfection is erased, illusion and displacement are the coordinates.”

For their Fall/Winter 2022 women’s collection, which debuted in March 2022 in Paris, Anderson picked up where he left off in January.

He played with materials such as shearling, leather, felt, latex, tweed, knit, 3D printed fiber, silk, and resin. Originally, the collection was supposed to express a lot of sexual provocative femininity but ended up being a reflection of the designer’s childhood memories with cars, balloons, and bows.

Fake balloons were squeezed by draped dresses and squished under high heels, sculptural body forms, strapless dresses with the form of a large toy car. Clearly, there is no limit to Anderson’s imagination.

Loewe always pays special attention to details which include making their shoes and accessories extremely exceptional. For their Paris Fashion Week collection, the models were seen strutting in furry bags, chunky bracelets, and balloon heels.

Loewe, which originated from a leather-making collective, allowed the textile to shine with their A/W’22 women’s collection as well.

Anderson has an eye for art and that is evident in his work. Vogue mentions “there’s clever marketing in all of these interconnections, these compliments to the intelligence of avant-garde, art-appreciating Loewe women of the world.”

We are thrilled to see more of Jonathan Anderson’s work in the future but for now, take a look at our favorite pieces from the latest collection provided by Loewe.
