The Stars That Won Big at the Grammy Awards: Olivia Rodrigo, Doja Cat, and More

Well, we’ve reached the end of award season and we’re pleased to see that it went out with a bang—not a slap. The 64th Grammy Awards took place on April 3rd, 2022, and were nothing short of fabulous fashion and vocals. Many of the artists received their first Grammy awards and some repeat winners made a new name for themselves.

Let’s take a look at some of the stars that won big at the 2022 Grammy Awards.

The music industry’s ‘It’ girl Olivia Rodrigo certainly made her mark at her first Grammy Awards show. The star received three Grammys which include Best New Artist, Best Pop Solo Performance, and Best Pop Vocal Album. Rodrigo released her hit single “drivers license” in January 2021 and has been dominating the Billboard charts ever since. It’s safe to say that she is just getting started. Also, can we acknowledge how stunning she looks in this Vivienne Westwood gown?

John Batiste was the most nominated artist for 2022, receiving 11 nominations. The star took home four Grammy Awards: Album of the Year, Best Score Soundtrack, Best American Roots Performance, and Best Original Score. Batiste won big for his album We Are and his work on the soundtrack for Disney’s film, Soul. Well deserved, Batiste.

SZA & Doja Cat

Everyone’s favorite girls SZA and Doja Cat made history last night receiving their first Grammy Awards. The pair won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their hit single “Kiss Me More.” When it comes to these two, there is never a dull moment. SZA came on stage wearing crutches and Doja almost missed the award being called because she was in the bathroom—iconic. We can’t wait to see more from these artists.

Bruno Mars has been dominating the Grammy Awards for years, receiving 12 all on his own. However, he made a new name for himself at this year’s show with his new group Silk Sonic. Mars and Anderson .Paak took home two Grammys for Record of the Year and Best R&B Performance. The two released their debut album, An Evening With Silk Sonic, in 2021 and we can expect nothing less but hits from them in the future.

Though he sadly couldn’t be in attendance, Tyler, The Creator also won big at the 64th Grammy Awards. The artist received Best Rap Album for Call Me If You Get Lost—which he is currently on tour for. This is Tyler, The Creator’s second win in this category, having received a Grammy for his album IGOR in 2020.

Though the 64th Grammy Awards was a major night for many of the stars, we couldn’t help to acknowledge the ones above. We are sad to see award season go, but we can’t wait another year of new music.
