Our 5 Favorite Enemies to Lovers Couples in TV Shows & Movies

'Enemies to Lovers' is a tale we all know too well. Watching two characters on-screen go from hatred to falling in love is a story we cannot take our eyes off.

From Nathan and Haley in One Tree Hill, a love story that no one saw coming, to Damon and Elena from The Vampire Diaries. Enemies to lovers is often a storyline that drives many teenage dramas. The storyline leaves the audience guessing who will end up together and the anticipation of "will they fall in love?"

Let’s take a look at five of our favorite ‘enemies to lover’ couples:

Nathan & Haley: One Tree Hill

Nathan Scott (James Lafferty) and Haley James (Bethany Joy Lenz) love story began with a lot of hate. The brother rivalry between, Lucas Scott (Chad Michael Murray) and Nathan Scott, as Haley is a loyal friend, she inserted herself into the rivalry. The love story began with Haley tutoring Nathan in math in exchange for him to stop tormenting Lucas.

Throughout season one, we see the hatred between the two slowly diminish and Nathan showcasing his love for Haley by giving her a bracelet from a crackerjack box.

As the series continues, Nathan and Haley get married and later have a son of their own named, Jamie Lucas Scott (Jackson Brundage). Although, they had many hardships with cheating and depression: we all knew this couple was end game since the first tutoring session.

Fan Reviews

“Nathan and Haley (One Tree Hill). The best love story in TV history. Argue with the wall, (Twitter: @blusberryjkl).”

“Nathan and Haley from One Tree Hill were my goals growing up, and they’re the REAL reason why I have unrealistic and unachievable standards for love now, (Twitter: @btinbtech).”

Damon & Elena: The Vampire Diaries

Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) and Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) love story was a slow burn which was extremely hard for Delena shippers to watch. Their love story began later into the season, Elena tells Damn that Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) came into her life when she needed it and if she met him first, maybe things would be different.

The irony is Damon did meet Elena first and Damon has always loved her, but he erased her memories of the interaction. After years of being in love with Elena, she finally reciprocated her feelings leaving Damon overjoyed. However, Elena was sired to Stefan—even though this was the cause Elena told Damon that love for him was the most real thing she has ever felt.

The key moment that solidified their relationship was when Damon would take the cure of vampirism over dying because he wants to be her husband and the father of her children.

Fan Reviews

“Rewatching Vampire diaries with a mature mind (if I do say sooo). Toxicity or not… Damon deserved happiness and if “Happiness” was Elena for him. Then Superb, (Twitter: @nazedoh).”

“That one scene in the vampire diaries where Damon and Elena are dancing at that college party off blood and feel so close by Calvin Harris is playing, (Twitter: @loveonvol6).”

Devi & Ben: Never Have I Ever

Throughout season one and two of Never Have I Ever, Devi Vishwakumar (Maitreyi Ramakrishnan) and Ben Gross ( Jaren Lewison) were rivals. Being the two smartest students in their grade created constant competition between the two. Sly remarks and comments were made between the two on a constant basis but that is their dynamic.

Devi is boy-crazy; her priority was set on making Paxton Hall-Yoshidaher (Darren Barnet) her boyfriend. Their constant bickering made it very apparent Ben had a crush on Devi but Devi was too consumed in her own world. Ben even went to the extent of dating Aneesa (Megan Suri) to get Devi jealous.

A scene that altered the audiences perception of Ben was the last episode in season one. Ben drives Devi to the beach so Devi can spread her father’s ashes in the ocean with her mother.

This is the first time the audience and Devi saw an empathetic side to Ben which lead to the shipping of ‘Bevi.’

The couple began when Patrick was paid by Joey Donner (Andrew Keegan) to court and date Kat so he could take Bianca. However, he eventually started to fall in love with her.
