Missing Emma Chamberlain at the Painted Pop-Up

SoHo has never been afraid of a little drama, but James Charles is giving the neighborhood a whole new definition of ‘paint the town red’.

A new pop-up is happening almost every week now, but somehow they still all get a significant amount of hype. Over the past month, there has been an influx of them. About two weeks ago, there was the Painted Pop-Up. I am not one to defend James Charles, but I do have to admit his makeup is quite good. This pop-up was also the launch of his new mascara, so people were definitely there to get their hands on that. I, personally, did not attend the pop-up, but my friend Delainey did, so I asked her a few questions.

Did they give you anything for free?

They gave me a few beauty blenders upon arrival.

How long did you wait?

There was zero line, so we walked straight in.

Was James there?

James unfortunately left one hour before we got there.

Did you see any celebrities?

I didn't see any celebrities, but I saw a bunch of his workers there that I saw on TikTok prior to the pop-up.

Why did you go to the pop up?

I went in hopes to meet him and because I saw it on Instagram.

Did it meet your expectations?

It was set up very well, and the workers were very sweet and definitely made it an enjoyable experience. I just wish I could've seen James himself. Overall, very good experience, workers definitely made it enjoyable.

Even though she didn't see any celebrities, there were definitely a few there, including Emma Chamberlain. She and James definitely have a past with each other, as they were both in the “Sister Squad.” This group contained James, Emma, and the Dolan Twins, and this was the moment in 2018-2019.

Emma was doing a project where she went around to different pop-ups in SoHo interviewing people. She stopped at the Harry Styles “Pleasing” pop-up, the SAUZ pop-up, and finally, the Painted pop-up. When she showed up to the Painted pop-up, she interviewed a fan. The fan asked her if she knew what the Sister Squad was and Emma said yes, then the fan let her know that she was in the James Charles pop-up line. She then laughed and walked away. To Gen-Z, this is a huge moment, as nobody knows why the four don't talk anymore, and even just an interaction between two of the members starts a whole riot with past fans of the group.
